UNYX
The Google Ads modules

How do you know a campaign is spending abnormally?

The daily budget in Google Ads is a ceiling, not an alarm. As long as it is respected, nothing warns you, even if the campaign is burning twice as fast for half the results.

Why this happens

  • More competition on your auctions pushes the cost per click up without warning.
  • A change of automated bidding strategy alters the spending pace within hours.
  • Adding keywords or widening targeting opens the tap further than intended.
  • A broken conversion tracking pushes the algorithm to buy volume blindly.

How to check it yourself

These checks are done directly in your Google Ads account, with no tool at all.

  1. 1Compare the last 7 days of spend with the 7 before, campaign by campaign.
  2. 2Look at what time of day the budget is used up: an early-morning exhaustion is a signal.
  3. 3Track the average cost per click over 30 days: a step change speaks louder than a smoothed curve.
  4. 4Always cross spend with conversions: a rise backed by results is not an anomaly.
What UNYX does

UNYX learns the normal pace of each campaign and alerts you when the gap becomes significant, with the amount at stake and the period concerned. It is an independent safety net, and it changes no budget.

Frequently asked questions

Is rising spend always a problem?

No. If conversions rise in the same proportion, the campaign is doing exactly its job. What should alert you is spend accelerating with nothing in return, or a drifting cost per acquisition.

Should the budget be cut as soon as an alert lands?

Not necessarily. An alert exists to make you look, not to cut. The right first question is: where does the rise come from? New terms triggered, competition, a bidding change. The answer dictates the action.
