Making conversion measurement reliable

Which tool to make your conversion measurement reliable

Google Ads optimises on what you report to it. If reporting is incomplete, the platform learns from a partial picture of your business, and it learns badly. This is the most technical subject on this page, and by far the most profitable.

What it costs to ignore it

A broken tag for three weeks triggers no alert. The campaign keeps spending, reported conversions collapse, the algorithm reduces delivery on what was working, and nobody notices before the monthly review. On a serious advertising budget, three weeks of bad measurement cost more than a year of measurement done properly.

How to choose

Where is the data hosted?

Server-side measurement routes visitor data through an intermediate server. Depending on your sector and your compliance policy, European hosting is not a detail but a prerequisite.

What exactly is your site?

Some tools are built for online shops and connect in a few clicks. Others are generic and require real implementation. A bespoke site and a standard shop do not call for the same choice.

Does it report value, or only the event?

Knowing a sale happened is not enough: Google needs the amount, ideally the margin. Tools able to send back a value instead of a counter change the nature of the whole exercise.

Who watches that it keeps working?

Measurement breaks at every redesign, every consent banner change, every site update. The tool does not watch itself: the question is who looks, and how often.

What UNYX does

We set measurement up server-side, test it order by order, and check it again after every site change. An account optimising on wrong figures spends badly, and nothing announces it.

The questions we get

Is server-side measurement mandatory?

No, but it has become the standard wherever budget is significant. It recovers part of the conversions lost to blockers and browser limits, and makes measurement less dependent on the visitor’s device.

Is it compatible with cookie consent?

Yes, and it is a major point of attention: server-side measurement must respect a visitor’s refusal. A setup that bypasses consent exposes you, and Google now expects a consent signal.

How long does implementation take?

From a few hours on a standard shop to several days on a bespoke site with an unusual checkout. Most of the time is not installation but verification, order by order.
