An order (arrêté) of 7 July 2026, published in the Journal officiel on 31 July, requires every professional offering energy renovation work to refer to the public service on their promotional materials. It applies from 1 October 2026.
The penalty is an administrative fine, imposed without a trial: up to €15,000 for an individual, €75,000 for a company.
The sentence is fixed word for word
The annex to the order gives the exact text. It must be displayed in French, and it cannot be reworded, shortened or adapted to the tone of your site. In English, it says roughly: "Before committing, the public service informs you free of charge to help you prepare and secure your project." The official wording is:
Avant de vous engager, le service public vous informe gratuitement pour préparer et sécuriser votre projet : www.france-renov.gouv.fr
One surprising detail: the address shown in the sentence is not the one the link must point to. The text requires you to write www.france-renov.gouv.fr, and to link to the public service's page. The order intends this gap.
Two obligations, often confused
This is the most common mix-up, and it is costly because it makes you feel compliant when you are only halfway there.
The first: every website offering renovation work must include a link to the public service. A link in the footer is enough.
The second: on an online advertising material, the mention must appear simultaneously with the promotional message. In other words, a banner at the very bottom of a long landing page does not meet this condition. The mention has to sit right next to the offer.
The layout mistake that undoes the work
The order requires the message to "stand out formally" from the advertising message, and to be "in no way altered, hidden, obscured or separated by other statements".
Two practical consequences. A banner styled in your brand colors fails the requirement to stand out. And introducing the mention with a phrase like "Pursuant to the order of…" is precisely a way of separating it with other statements: the mandatory sentence stops being the dominant element. If you want to cite the text, cite it afterward, in a smaller size.
What you must never do
Do not reproduce the Marianne, the "République Française" block, or the logos of Anah, France Rénov' or any ministry on your commercial materials. These marks are reserved for State services. Displaying them suggests a public endorsement: on a communication that talks about compliance, that would be the most expensive offense of the lot.
Cite the texts: they are public, and they are what carries authority. Never borrow the emblems.
Other media
Print requires a horizontal banner at the bottom, with a margin of at least 2% of the height. Television and cinema require a fixed banner for the entire duration of the spot. Radio requires the message to be broadcast immediately after the ad.
